Zohran Mamdani has been elected as mayor of New York City. Not only as he gained the support of New York voters, but he has gained the support of the international community that represents Léman.
In Léman’s mock election that took place November 3, 2025, 70.6% of faculty, staff, middle school, and high school voted for Zohran Mamdani over Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa. Curtis Sliwa came in second place, with 16.5% of votes, and Andrew Cuomo came in third place, with 12.8% of votes.

In New York City, Mamdani did not take such a high percentage of votes, but still led the race with a 50.4% lead. Unlike our school, the city placed Cuomo in second place, with 41.6% of votes, and Sliwa in third place with 7.1% of votes.

An anonymous comment written by someone in the Leman community highlights the dominant emotions towards Mamdani — both praise and skepticism:
“Zohran is someone who has big ideas to help ordinary New Yorkers: free buses, a rent freeze on rent-stabilized apartments, city-run and subsidized grocery stores, and more. I understand that Zohran is young and has relatively little political experience, and that many of his ideas will be difficult to pull off. However, I'm tired of uninspiring politicians who don't even pretend to have new ideas or support working people. If Zohran can accomplish half of what he's promised, he'll be the best mayor this city has seen in a long time.”
A breakdown of Mamdani’s policies will be featured on The Bullhorn in the coming weeks. Be sure to keep an eye out.
