September 27, 2025 marked the release of the fall Minecraft LIVE show for 2025. From a catchy song to a new weapon, a lot of fun new information was shared and audiences are excited to play-test the new snapshot.
Minecraft LIVE is a livestream hosted by Mojang, the developers of Minecraft. Twice a year, typically in the spring and fall, a new video is uploaded, revealing new information about the game’s next update, popular content creators, showing off the Minecraft community and more. It can be viewed on youtube, twitch and minecraft.com/live.
This season's Minecraft LIVE starts out with Jens Bergenstan, Chief Creative Officer at Mojang, expressing his excitement and gratitude towards the Minecraft community, from all of those who showed up at the Minecraft Movie Premier in London, to everyone who plays the game, vanilla or modded. In his words, “No matter how long you’ve been playing or what you’re getting up to, it’s you, our community, that drives us to create. From all of us here at Mojang Studios, a huge thanks for inspiring us for all these years.”
The Copper Age
This year, two games have already been revealed, one of which is the Copper Age. The Copper Age dropped September 30th, 2025. This new update gives the player a brand new block to work with: shelves! Agnes Larsson, the game director for vanilla Minecraft, shares that when the block was first announced, she was most excited about the “hotbar swapping” feature. Shelves are a placeable block that allow players to display 3 items per block, similar to an item frame. However, when powered by a redstone charge, the player can swap the last three items in their inventory with the 3 items on the shelf. Furthermore, this visually provides a “vertical slab” block that itches a scratch the Minecraft Community has had for years.
Copper is an abundant ore in Minecraft and so, as expected by its name, the Copper Age brings many new uses for Copper. The previously decorative block can now be crafted into a set of tools, armor and the mob, Copper Golem. The Copper Golem is designed to be a new friend for your base, created to help organize your chests. After crafting a copper chest, the player may fill it with whatever blocks they so please, and the Copper Golem will distribute these items to other chests with similar items inside of them. This small mob brings life to a build with dozens of animations and sounds to accompany them. Over time, just like copper blocks, Copper Golems will oxidize. Once maximum oxidation is reached, the Copper Golem freezes in a random pose. Each pose emits a different redstone signal when connected to a comparator, meaning these mobs can become passcodes for a vault or integral parts of a machine. But don't worry, you can bring your Copper Golem back to life by simply scraping the oxidation off with an axe, or by striking it with lightning. Items not mentioned above but referred to in Minecraft LIVE include copper torch, copper chains and copper bars.
Mounts of Mayhem
Mounts of Mayhame is one of the brand new game drops revealed this Minecraft LIVE. This new game drop introduces a new mob, the Nautilus! While the nautilus shell has been in the game since the last aquatic update in 2018, the Nautilus has never been seen before and promises some very exciting new features. Firstly, the Nautilus is a tameable mob, which Agnes compares to “the Happy Ghast of the seas”. After feeding this underwater mob a few pufferfish and gaining its favor, you can then ride it with a saddle. The Deep Dig, Minecraft LIVE’s aftershow revealed that Nautilus will eat any fish, including fish in a bucket, though pufferfish are their favorite. Now, every part of the overworld can be explored with a rideable mob friend, a horse for the land, a Happy Ghast for the skies and a Nautilus for the seas. While riding the Nautilus, the player receives the effect “Breath of the Nautilus”, allowing the player to breathe underwater, something very useful for exploring underwater structures such as sunken ships, or building your own structures. An additional dash feature allows the player to quickly move forward while riding the Nautilus and, when looking up at the surface of the water, the Nautilus will jump into the air before landing back in the water, though one should take caution in doing this near land. Not to worry though, since Mojang knows you want to keep your Nautilus safe; this game drop also includes armor for the Nautilus, in all the same materials as normal armor. However, players aren't the only ones who get to enjoy the fun. The Zombie Nautilus is a greener mob that spawns with a drowned on top of them, creating a scary scene in the Minecraft waters.
Additionally, Mouths of Mayhem brings an entirely new weapon to the game, the spear! The spear, crafted with two sticks and an ore of choice, allows the player to attack with two modes, a jab and a charge. The charge attack does damage based on the speed of the player, meaning it functions like a horizontal mace, the faster you go, the more damage you do. When the spear is first lowered to charge, it deals damages, knockback and dismount, however as time passes, the spear begins to shake. Now, it still deals knockback and damage, but not dismount. Then, the spear lowers and only damage is done. Finally, if the spear still does not connect with an entity, the spear will raise back up and the player will need to lower it again to charge attack. The better tier the spear, the faster it will drop as it will be “heavier”. Once again, we the players cannot be the only ones to reap the benefits of this new game drop. Zombies will spawn in with spears, and for the first time in survival mode, zombified horses will spawn at night, carrying zombies with spears, bringing a new threat to the overworld. The snapshot of this new game drop will be released later this year.
The Minecraft community has responded to this new announcement overwhelmingly positively, and while a few have expressed disappointment in The End continuing to be left unchanged, many memes have been emerging, comparing wearing full iron armour and holding a spear to being a medieval soldier. The addition of not just the Nautilus but a Zombie Nautilus and Nautilus armour has been complimented by the community, as it shows Mojang has been listening to what the community wants and started thinking ahead.
